  • Laverne said she will seek help and start therapy "soon"

TikTok star Zoe Laverne recently admitted to “catching feelings” for an underage fan and apologized for her behavior, but social media users won't let her forget about this controversy anytime soon.

Laverne briefly deactivated her Instagram and ceased to post on her other social media accounts after videos surfaced allegedly showing her kissing 13-year-old fan Connor Joyce, who regularly appears on her TikTok videos. Just days later, however, the 19-year-old influencer returned to social media and has been actively posting once more.

In Instagram livestreams and social media comments, Laverne apologized for kissing the underage fan and said she and Joyce have cut contact since. However, a number of netizens have accused the TikTok star of showing no remorse for her actions.

“Lock her up and throw away the key, just because she an influencer doesn’t mean she can get away with predatory behavior and actions,” a Twitter user posted Monday.

Pointing out her recent chats with netizens, another social media user said Laverne's actions seem to show she is unfazed by the allegations against her.

“I’m just here trying to figure out how Zoe Laverne is seriously acting like kissing a 13-year-old boy is not wrong when she’s literally almost 20 years old,” wrote the user.

A new video in which Laverne can be seen laughing was shared by one netizen, along with the comment, “Y’all, the look on her face when she saw the photos of Connor probes her f-----g guilty and laughing at it. ... You groomed a minor and you think it’s a joke.”

Talking about Laverne's public apology, another netizen wrote on Twitter, “First off, she’s done plenty of mistakes, and said she learned from them, yet she continues to do them? C’mon Zoe, you’re 19, I expected better from you. ... She committed a whole crime. Grow tf up Zoe!”

Meanwhile, other netizens pointed out that in one of her recent videos, Laverne appeared to shift the blame to the person who leaked the videos of her kissing the underage fan, saying, “What I do in my life outside of social media is not anyone's business.”

“If she was a man she would already be charged. It’s ANYONE'S business if you are preying on children,” one Twitter user commented.

Over the weekend, Laverne told fans on Snapchat that she is “starting therapy soon” and is “getting help.” She also revealed that she and Joyce will address the situation “soon.”

In an Instagram livestream, she said, “I didn't groom Connor, I wouldn't do that. He's a kid and I'm aware of that. It just happened.”

She continued, “We both were in a dark place when we first became friends and we both just ended up catching feelings for each other. And friends do that, they catch feelings for each other. That's not a bad thing. Yes, the age is a bad thing. Yes, it's wrong. Yes, it's not good. We both realized that and we stopped.”
