Zoey Deutch Talks About Her 'Painful' Audition For 'The Hunger Games' [Watch]
Zoey Deutch opened up about her audition for Katniss Everdeen's character in the popular movie franchise, "The Hunger Games," and revealed she knew during the audition she won't get selected.
"I screen tested for Katniss but knew I didn't get it because in the screen test, he was like, 'Why don't you read this other part?'" she recalled during the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast Tuesday.
The 27-year-old actress shared it was a little painful for her to know during the audition she has been rejected, "Literally. But, yeah, that one was a little painful."
The role was famously played by actress Jennifer Lawrence. The movie franchise was an adaptation of the novel of the same name, penned by Suzanne Collins.
The first installment of the movie, "The Hunger Games" was dropped in 2012, and the success of the movie led to the second installment, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" release next year. The last installment, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" was dropped in two different parts in 2014 and 2015.
The next installment of the franchise, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," is slated to release on Nov. 17, next year. The flick is helmed by director Francis Lawrence and the screenplay is written by Michael Arndt alongside Collins.
The teaser of the upcoming movie was dropped in June by Lionsgate on Youtube.
While Deutch didn't get selected for Katniss Everdeen's character, she went on to work in several projects including "Beautiful Creatures," "Switched at Birth," "Vampire Academy" and "Everybody Wants Some!!"
She was featured in Ed Sheeran's music video, "Perfect," which was dropped in 2017. Aside from Sheeran's music video, she also featured in Justin Bieber's music video, "Anyone," which was released last year.
Considering her upcoming projects, Deutch will be seen in a comedy movie, "Something from Tiffany's," which is slated to release on Dec. 9. The flick is helmed by director Daryl Wein and it also stars Shay Mitchell and Ray Nicholson.
The actress will also feature in "Most Dangerous Game," which is under pre-production and penned by Katie Silberman.
On the personal front, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, Deutch revealed that she had contracted COVID-19 before the lockdown.
