Detective Erin Lindsay isn’t the only character on “Chicago P.D” to be coached by Sergeant Hank Voight. The NBC series’ fourth season will introduce a former protégé of the tough-as-nails policemen.

Here are four things to know about this new Season 4 character:

1. “Revenge” Actor Nick Wechsler Is Playing The Role

Wechsler, who played bartender-turned-cop Jack Porter in the ABC series, has joined “Chicago P.D.” as Kenny Rixton, a former pupil of Voight (Jason Beghe), according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will appear in multiple episodes in Season 4.

Apart from “Revenge,” Wechsler has had roles in “The Player,” “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” and “Roswell.”

2. Rixton Was Voight’s Pupil During His Gang Unit Days

Rixton was being trained under Voight when he worked to bust gang units in Chicago. Wechsler’s character will first make his appearance in Season 4, episode 10, titled “Don’t Read The News,” which is scheduled to air in early 2017, according to TVLine.

3. He Will Likely Fill The Void Left By Antonio Dawson

The two-hour fall finale which is premiering Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on NBC is the last time “Chicago P.D.” fans will see Antonia Dawson (Jon Seda) on the show. He is moving to spin-off series “Chicago Justice” after he gets a job offer of lead investigator for the State’s Attorney.

Therefore, it is likely that Rixton will fill in the void left by Gabriela Dawson’s (Monica Raymund) brother in the police department. Incidentally, Gabriela is set to appear in the Season 4 fall finale so fans will see what she has to say about her brother’s big career move.

Let’s hope that he’s a wonderful addition to the #OneChicago family.

“Chicago P.D.” Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
