Square Enix, the gaming studio behind "Final Fantasy XVI," shared more details about the upcoming title following its gameplay trailer and release window announcement during the PlayStation State of Play on Thursday. One of the new faces players will encounter in the game is that of Hugo Kupka, who rose to power as a "permanent economic adviser" because of his "awakening as Dominant of the Eikon Titan."

The other is Benedikta Harman, one of the best informers in "Final Fantasy XVI," who has a knack for subterfuge and swordplay. She is also the Dominant Eikon Garuda, Warden of the Wind. Square Enix also dropped several in-game screenshots, including a glimpse of the realm of Valisthe and several captivating views.

The game' producer Yoshida Naoki shared that the incoming title will feature "high-octane battles featuring our protagonist Clive Rosfield wielding a full arsenal of attacks unique to the game’s many Eikons." The game, which is set to release sometime in the summer of 2023, is currently playable from beginning to end but the all-star development team would like to take their time with the game to make sure they have got everything perfect.

Speaking of the development team, the "FFXVI" team consists of a powerhouse line-up of industry veterans. This includes combat director Ryota Suzuki, who was the gameplay lead of "Dragon's Dogma" designer of "Devil May Cry 5" and effects designer of "Ultimate marvel vs. Capcom."

The game's screenplay writer and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro and art director Hiroshi Minagawa along with character design lead Kazuya Takashi, all worked alongside Yoshida on "Final Fantasy 12" and "Tactics." Meanwhile, the game's music composer Masayoshi Soken, is the same one who composed most of the music of "Final Fantasy XIV" and its expansions as well as the music of "Mario Sports Mix" and "Nanashi no Game."

"Final Fantasy XVI" is set to launch in summer 2023 and will be released on PlayStation consoles and PC.
