Former Manchester City star Mikkel Bischoff has revealed that one of his ex-teammates, Leicester City goalkeeper and 2016 Premier League champion Kasper Schmeichel, will do “anything” to join the Red Devils amid rumors of a possible move to Manchester United.

There are speculations that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been frustrated with the poor form of his star defender, David de Gea, leading to rumors that Man United is in search of a well-rounded goalkeeper to replace its pricey signing. An array of highly-rated defenders have been linked to a possible move to Old Trafford in recent months, one of them being Leicester star Schmeichel.

After a good run with the Foxes this season, Schmeichel appears to present a strong case to become De Gea’s replacement in United. And his former Man City teammate has now provided some insight into Schmeichel’s mindset regarding a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, Bischoff confirmed that the 33-year-old would be more than willing to play for the Red Devils if he gets the chance. The former City center-back revealed that Schmeichel isn’t only a prospect of United but also a huge fan of the club.

Bischoff explained that it has always been the goalkeeper’s dream to join Solskjaer’s side, thus Schmeichel is willing to “do anything” just to be signed by United.

“Schmeichel is a huge United fan. He always has been and always will be, it will be the biggest dream come true if he were to succeed [in joining United]. If Kasper gets the opportunity to play just ten games for United, then he jumps. It’s simply so big for him. He is such a big fan that he will do anything to get to that club,” Bischoff said.

The Danish legend is also optimistic that despite Schmeichel already being over 30 years old, United will not doubt his abilities. Bischoff pointed out that the most successful goalkeepers in the past several years were already in their 30s.

“United will certainly not be deterred by his age of 33 years. The most successful goalkeepers at the club in recent years have been well into their thirties, [Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar]. He can easily play three or four good years there,” he pointed out.

Aside from Schmeichel, United has also been linked to a massive transfer move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, Porto left-back Alex Telles and Inter Milan center-back Milan Skriniar.
