Dean introduces his mother Mary to Castiel in the extended trailer of “Supernatural” Season 12. Katie Yu/The CW

Talk about an awkward introduction! The CW released an extended trailer of “Supernatural” Season 12 ahead of its premiere on Oct. 13 and it shows Castiel being introduced to none other than Dean and Sam Winchester’s mother, Mary.

The promo begins with Castiel/Cas (Misha Collins) climbing out of a ditch after Amara/The Darkness zapped Lucifer out of him. He meets a motorist and asks him how far are they from Lebanon, Kansas. Cas is back in action!

The video then shows an angry Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore), who is a member of the British Men of Letters, talking to her colleague. She tells him that the American hunters – Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) – are no better than the monsters they fail to control.

We also get glimpses of Sam getting kidnapped, being driven in the trunk of a car and getting tortured. Dean, Mary and Cas better hurry and save him.

The “Supernatural” Season 12 trailer also shows Mary joining Sam and Dean in hunting monsters. She flashes her fake FBI badge with her sons during a case. Needless to say, the brothers will learn more about their mother and her past.

Mary and Cas will bond in Season 12 because they both feel they are outsiders. There is a certain level of understanding between them.

“Supernatural” Season 12 will also see Castiel and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) take a road trip after Castiel gets a lead on where Lucifer is located. The two join forces to take down the fallen angel who used the angel and dethroned Crowley last season. Cas also wants to catch Lucifer in order to keep the world safe.

Lucifer will inhabit the body of an aging rock star named Vince Vicente (Rick Springfield).

“Supernatural” Season 12 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
