1-Ton Cheeseburger Served At Minnesota Casino, New Guinness World Record
This cheeseburger weighs a ton, literally.
The Black Bear Casino Resort in Minnesota dished up the artery-clogging concoction - a cheeseburger that weighs 2,014 pounds, or slightly more than a ton - Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
The burger, which needed a crane to flip and took four hours to cook, contained 60 pounds of bacon, 50 pounds of lettuce, 50 pounds of sliced onions, 40 pounds of pickles and 40 pounds of cheese, according to the AP.
A representative for the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand in Carlton, Minn., to verify that the one-ton cheeseburger is the biggest burger ever cooked, according to the AP. The prior record belonged to a patty that weighed in at 881 pounds, 13 ounces.
"What I saw today was a feat of remarkable teamwork that resulted in a world record burger that actually tastes really good," Guinness ajudicator Philip Robertson said in a statement, the Duluth Tribune reported.
The one-ton cheeseburger's bun took seven hours to bake, according to the Tribune. Both the bun and patty were cooked using 15-foot steel skillets and an outdoor oven fueled by propane torches, the paper reported.
The big burger was served for free to guests of Black Bear for the casino's Big Burger Bash promotion.
