Fans of BTS, the popular K-Pop group, know quite a bit when it comes to the "Boy With Luv" singers. However, some facts may have slipped through the cracks. Here are 10 things you may not have previously known about the beloved group.
1. Watching "Friends" helped RM learn English
According to Teen Vogue, this band member got a better handle on the English language from that unusual source thanks to his mother. "She bought me all 10 of the DVDs - all the seasons. So firstly, I watched them with the Korean subtitles, and then next time, I watched with the English subtitles, and then I just removed it," he shared.
2. Suga once said that if he weren't in the band that he believes he'd still be making music
"If I wasn't a rapper, I would probably be a composer because I love music so much," he once said, according to Cosmo. This likely will not come as a shock to fans of the group as he was recently revealed as a composer on various projects outside of BTS, such as Heize's single "We Don't Talk Together."
3. Speaking of Suga, he used to go by the name "Gloss"
Before taking on his current stage name, he is said to have gone by Gloss in the underground rap world before joining management group Big Hit Entertainment.
4. The band came close to going by an entirely different name
Reportedly, the name BTS almost never existed, and instead Big Kidz or Young Nation would have been used.
5. Jimin has a background in modern dance
Before officially joining the group, he studied at Busan High School of Arts. As reported by Billboard, he was even at the top of his class during his time there.
6. V's parents are said to have special nicknames for him
The nicknames supposedly are "baby bear" and "honey bear."
7. J-Hope used to be into street dancing
Before joining the very successful band, J-Hope was a member of a dance group called NEURON. According to Billboard, in 2008 he won a national dance competition in South Korea, which caused him to develop a reputation for being a performer that the industry should keep their eye on.
8. Jin once cut his own bangs
He filmed the haircut in an iPhone video. In only a couple of hours, the clip was viewed over three million times, reports Allure.
9. Jungkook still has an interest in tattoos
And he reportedly would like to follow that passion and one day become a tattoo artist.
10. BTS was the first K-Pop act to get their own unique emojis on Twitter
In 2016, BTS was the very first to snag that special attention. However, in 2017 they earned another one. The follow-up was created to celebrate the announcement that they were set to perform "DNA" at that year's American Music Awards.
