'1000-Lb Sisters' Star Tammy Slaton Lost Home And Can't Afford Rent, Sister Claims
KEY POINTS
- Amy Slaton claimed "1000-Lb. Sisters" doesn't cover her sister Tammy Slaton's latest stay at a weight loss rehab facility

- Amy said Tammy will stay with her before they find another house for her sister
Amy Slaton has shared some updates about her sister Tammy Slaton after "1000-Lb. Sisters" Season 3 wrapped up.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Amy claimed that Tammy has lost her home because her sister can't afford to pay rent amid her pricey stay at a weight loss rehab facility in Ohio for food addiction.
Tammy, who remains in rehab following a serious health scare that landed her in the hospital, lived in a $239,000 duplex in Kentucky with her sibling before Amy moved out and bought a $37,500 home with her husband Michael Halterman.
"Tammy's social security pays it, it takes her whole social security check, the show isn't paying," Amy claimed of Tammy's time in the facility. "That's why I hear she doesn't have a place to live because she can't afford the rent. When she comes out, she'll stay with me for a little bit, [and as] soon as we find a place, she'll go there."
Amy claimed that TLC had paid for the previous rehab stays for her sister and that she and Tammy are making an undisclosed amount from their appearance on the show.
Reps for the network have not responded to requests for comment.
Amy said she is not sure when Tammy, who has been in rehab for over a month, will return home but knows that her sister is "getting the help she needs."
"If she needs to be up there for a year, two years, that's fine. She needs the help," Amy said.
Amy and Tammy's shared home had been featured in past seasons of "1000-Lb. Sisters." The duplex, which has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, appeared "tight and cluttered" as Tammy struggled to get through door frames and small hallways, the outlet noted.
Tammy is working on losing weight to qualify for bariatric surgery. Her surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith, said that if she's able to hit 500 pounds, she can go straight from rehab to getting weight loss surgery.
Amy previously slammed her sister's "bad boy" ex-boyfriends who were not supportive of her weight loss. She begged Tammy to find someone who would encourage her to be healthy.
"I didn't like any of her boyfriends, they were cool to talk to but not [suitable for a] relationship," Amy said in a previous interview with The Sun. "I know how Tammy gets, she loses herself in a relationship, she puts her heart and soul into it."
She noted that these men "were not bringing out the best" in Tammy, specifically pointing to "one guy" who "just wanted fat women."
Amy may have been referring to Tammy Slaton's former boyfriend Phillip Redmond, whom the reality star broke up with in Season 3.
On the show, Amy said she was relieved that their relationship ended because Redmond "loves big women" and refuses to date anyone under 300 pounds. She feared that he would compromise Tammy's weight loss journey.
Meanwhile, Amy isn't sure if she will return for another season of "1000-Lb. Sisters" if TLC decides to renew it. The reality star said her current pregnancy and her 15-month-old son, Gage, require most of her time and attention but added that she would consider signing on for a fourth season if producers cut down her filming hours.
"1000-Lb. Sisters" Season 3 aired its finale episode last month. TLC has not yet announced if the show will be renewed for another season.
