Tammy Slaton's doctor was worried about her lifestyle because she decided to take a break from her weight loss efforts amid her mental health struggles.
In an exclusive clip from the "1000-Lb Sisters" season finale obtained by People, Tammy's bariatric surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith, stopped by for a visit to check in on her. Smith expressed concern over Tammy's lack of exercise and excessive drinking because by doing so, she's "putting herself in grave danger."
The 35-year-old TLC star said she's "battling mental health" and depression "big time." Smith asked her if it's worse alone or when people are around her.
"By myself," Tammy answered. "That's why I kinda felt like I needed to just take a break and not think about diets, relationships. Just clear my mind. Just work on me."
She admitted that she's been drinking and smoking. "I started vaping," she added.
Smith asked Tammy how much she's been drinking and was surprised with her response.
"Maybe eight bottles a week," Tammy said while smiling.
Smith said, "That's a lot." The doctor was concerned about Tammy's drinking habit.
"Tammy's doing a lot of partying, which raises a concern for me. That alone is putting her in severe danger," he said.
Smith wanted Tammy to address her mental health struggles, but he disapproved of her ways.
"She says she's focusing on her mental health, which if that was true, I'm all about that. But she's not made any strides to actually do it," he said. "So I'm a little concerned that she's actually just using that as an excuse to buy her more time to not work on her activity level, making some changes in her diet, or anything further than that."
Tammy's sister, Amy Slaton, expressed the same concern in a previous episode. However, Amy said she didn't want to confront Tammy about it because she knew it would result in a "bad argument."
When they sat down with the producer and Tammy was asked what she was doing, she said she was "trying to do self-love" and "trying to fall in love with myself again."
Amy told her there were other outlets to explore instead of partying and drinking. She also told her older sister she hoped she would find happiness through other things because alcohol would only give her more health problems like kidney failure.
Tammy cut her off and said, "I don't need a lecture."
Tammy's unhealthy habits received mixed responses from the viewers. Some were concerned, while others were furious that she was not taking care of herself.
"@Tammy_Slaton you are literally killing yourself and you blame everyone but the one person that is at fault YOU!!!!" one tweeted.
"Tammy has a death wish. You can see it in her expressions. She doesn't care about herself. It's only a matter of time, such a sad situation," another commented on the clip from the episode on YouTube.
The season finale of "1000-Lb. Sisters" airs Monday at 10 p.m. E.T.
