11 Sweet And Scary Treats To Make This Halloween
Candy might be the treat of choice for most on Halloween, but for those planning on throwing a spooky party this year, some other sugary or savory treats should definitely be on the menu.
While some guests may be looking for something to add to their sugar rush, others might be after something to balance out the sweet stuff. And of course, everyone’s going to be looking for something that brings the spooky feel to the snack table. Mini Macaroni and Cheese Muffins
This savory treat, compliments of Andrea Correale of Elegant Affairs, will be a spooktacular addition to a Halloween party.
Ingredients:
- 1 package elbow pasta
- 2 tbsp. butter, divided
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 tsp. paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
How To Make:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add elbow pasta and cook 8-10 minutes until al dente, drain, and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine butter and milk together. Bring to a simmer and add cheese. Allow all ingredients to melt together.
- Toss the pasta in cheese mixture and season with salt, pepper and paprika.
- Coat entire mixture with eggs and then spoon into muffin tin. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with your favorite Halloween critters, like black licorice spiders.
Monster Cookies: These gooey cookies are also sufficiently creepy, making them perfect for the spookiest time of year.
Mummy Brie: A little touch of puff pastry, some pepperoni and olives steps up your brie game and gives you the perfect scary addition to your party menu.
Peachy Halloween Mini Cupcakes
Ingredients:
- 1 17 oz. Sparkling Ice Peach Nectarine, divided
- 1 box of classic yellow cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 16 oz. cream cheese
- 1 stick unsalted butter, 4 oz., room temperature
- 2 cups Confectioner's Sugar
- Candy Corn for garnish
How To Make:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare a mini cupcake pan with paper liner.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of the Sparkling Ice with cake mix, eggs and oil. Beat on low speed before increasing to medium speed for 2 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, bring the remaining 9 oz. of Sparkling Ice to a boil and reduce the liquid to 1/4 cup. Chill to cool.
- Pour the cake batter into liners and fill to about 3/4 full. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until a cake tester or pick inserted in cakes comes out clean. Remove cakes to a rack and cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, prepare the icing by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add confectioner's Sugar and continue beating. Add remaining (reduced and cooled) Sparkling Ice. Chill the icing in the refrigerator if needed to firm it up more.
- Ice the cupcakes and garnish each with a candy corn.
