A 12-year-old boy ended up in hospital after three men cut his tongue following a scuffle. The incident came to light after the child went to the nearby police station with a bleeding mouth.

The brutal incident was reported in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Tuesday evening, reported News 18. Officers said the child, hailing from the village of Boraulli, approached the station with a bleeding mouth. He was unable to speak. However, the child communicated his plight by writing in a paper about the attack.

"We rushed the boy to a government hospital for treatment. The doctors have declared him safe," a senior police officer told News 18.

Further investigation revealed that the child and his friends were playing when a fight broke out between the victim and another boy. The verbal fight turned ugly when the minors traded blows and attacked each other with batons. The other minor suffered head injuries in the incident. He went home and complained about it.

The injured boy's relative, who got upset seeing the child cry, rushed to the victim with two other men. They beat him up before using scissors to snip off his tongue.

The police have identified the three accused and charged them with offenses against the children act and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

While one person had been arrested, two others were absconding, said the police. After protests erupted alleging police inaction in arresting the remaining accused, a special team was formed for the investigation. "Raids are being conducted at various locations in the district to nab the accused youths," the officer told News 18.

Recently, an 11-year-old child was allegedly tortured and forced to lick a hot iron over suspicion of theft in Pakistan. The boy's tongue got severely burnt following the incident. Tehseeb, the victim, was put through excruciating pain and brutality in order to prove his innocence after being accused of stealing a teapot or kettle. Three men were arrested in connection with the incident. Reports add that the tribal area of Baloch from where the boy belonged, still uses the water and fire tradition for the trial of suspects.
