Tequila may or may not be your favorite alcohol depending on the day, but at least for today, it should be the top spirit on your list, because it’s National Tequila Day!
Tequila, which is distilled from the blue agave plant and is most often produced in Mexico, is a staple ingredient in several cocktails that can make any right infinitely more fun and tasty. With the holiday in mind, it’s also the perfect time to try out some new recipes that could become instant Summer favorites. Check out these 14 cocktails when looking for new Tequila themed recipes.
Agave Margarita: This margarita will hit the spot for anyone who likes their drinks sweet, featuring agave nectar as the star ingredient.
Angry-Rita:
For this delicious cocktail, combine 1 oz. Blanco Tequila, 0.5 oz. Grenadine, 0.5 oz. Lime Juice and a Dash of Angostura Bitters in a cocktail shaker and shake. Pour into a rocks glass with ice and top with 4 oz. Angry Orchard Crisp Apple, then Garnish with a lime wheel.
Blood Orange Paloma:
Combine 1.5 oz. Tequila Don Julio Blanco, ½ oz. Fresh Lime Juice and ½ oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain the content into a Collins glass over fresh ice. Top with San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa and garnish with chili powder.
Bloody Maria:
To make this classic recipe, combine 2 oz. Avion Silver, 2 oz. Tomato Juice, ½ oz. Worcestershire Sauce, a squeeze of lime, salt and pepper, 1 Tsp. Horseradish and 2 dashes Tobasco Sauce in a tall glass with ice. Stir until chilled and garnish as desired.
Camarena Old-Fashioned:
To make, add 2 oz. Camarena Reposado, 0.5 oz. Agave Nectar and 2 Dashes of Bitters into a double old-fashioned rocks glass filled with ice. Stir to combine and garnish with an orange peel.
Corralejo Spicy Pineapple Paloma:
Rim a glass with Tajín. Then, add 2 ounces Corralejo Silver, ½ ounce grapefruit juice, ½ ounce lime juice, ½ sliced Serrano pepper and ½ ounce of agave syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard to chill and combine, strain into the glass over fresh ice. Top with pineapple soda, garnish and enjoy.
Diablo:
This delicious recipe from Bruce Cost Ginger Ale is easy to make. In a small glass with ice, combine 0.75 oz. Lime Juice, 0.5 oz. Crème de Cassis, 1.5 oz. El Tesoro Reposado tequila and 4 oz. Bruce Cost Ginger Ale (Original). Garnish with an orange slice and enjoy.
Los Arango Spicy Ginger Margarita:
Rim a glass with Tajín. The combine 2 ounces Los Arango Blanco, 1-ounce lime juice, ½ ounce ginger simple syrup and 3 slices fresh cut jalapeño in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to chill and combine the ingredients, fine strain into the glass over fresh ice and garnish.
Meyer Lemon and Tequila: This margarita, featuring Meyer Lemons, has a slightly sweet and more floral flavor than a traditional drink.
Mosto Paloma:
To make this delicious and refreshing cocktail compliments of Mosto in San Francisco, add 1.5 oz Cenote Blanco, 1 oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice, 0.5 oz. Lemon, 0.25 oz. Agave and a pinch of salt into a mixing tin and shake with ice. Then, top with 1 oz. Whalebird Grapefruit Kombucha and pour into a Collins glass with new ice. Peel a grapefruit and dip the end into chili salt to garnish.
