16-Year-Old Allegedly Kills Brother, Buries Dismembered Body After Argument Over Phone Lock
A 16-year-old boy in India has allegedly hacked his elder brother to death while the victim was asleep and buried his dismembered body parts inside their house, police said.
The incident happened in Saharanpur, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The teen boy was living with his 20-year-old brother Farman after the siblings' parents died a few years ago.
The incident happened on July 14 but came to light recently after their neighbors noticed a stench from their house and Farman missing for weeks. They registered a complaint to the police on Monday after the teen failed to provide a satisfactory answer for Farman's absence, Times Now News reported.
An initial investigation revealed that the brothers had a scuffle after Farman locked the teen's new mobile phone and forgot the combination of the lock. Farman reportedly beat his younger brother during this argument.
Police reported that the suspect killed Farman using a spade while he was asleep and chopped up the body parts. The victim's body was buried in different locations inside their house, as reported by The Indian Express.
The police arrested the teen boy who admitted to the crime during an interrogation. The investigators then dug out the body parts of the elder brother Tuesday morning and sent them for an autopsy.
"The suspect has been taken into custody and will be sent to a juvenile home after we complete our interrogation," Atul Kumar Sharma, an investigating officer told The Indian Express.
Last week, a 15-year-old girl in India was detained for allegedly strangling her mother to death after a heated argument over the teen's studies. The 41-year-old victim was found dead on July 30 at her apartment where she lived with her husband and two kids in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. The suspect tried to portray her mother's death as a suicide but an autopsy report later revealed that it was murder. The teen confessed to the crime during an interrogation. She said her parents wanted her to be a doctor and forced her to join training classes even when she detested the idea.
