17-Year-Old Student Drugged, Raped By Principal During School Trip: Cops

A principal in India has been accused of drugging and raping a teen student while they were on a school trip, police said Sunday.

The shocking assault happened in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Nov. 23 when the unnamed school principal took the unidentified 17-year-old girl on a trip along with her eight classmates, NDTV reported.

The principal stayed with the victim in one room during the trip, while the other female students were given a separate room in a hotel, the victim's classmate said, as per the outlet.

The suspect allegedly gave the teen girl some intoxicating substance via her food before raping her.

When the minor girl resisted the man's advances, he threatened to give her failing marks in the examinations and also kill her, a senior police officer said, according to Times Now News.

The students returned home after the trip on Nov. 24, and the victim initially did not reveal the ordeal to anyone. However, more than a week after the alleged assault, the girl disclosed its details to her family, who then reported it to the cops.

Police reportedly said they have registered a case against the suspect based on the complaint from the victim's father. The officials have also initiated efforts to nab the suspect, who is currently on the run. The case remains under investigation.

In a similar incident last month, a 14-year-old girl who was abducted and gang-raped by her classmates was raped again by her school principal when he turned up at the scene after hearing her cries. The brutal assault happened to an unidentified minor girl from the eastern Indian state of Bihar after she was kidnapped by her classmates, all aged 13 to 15. Surendra Bhaskar, the school principal who reportedly followed the teens, appeared at the scene when the victim cried for help. After the teens fled the scene, Bhaskar raped the victim and dropped her off with her parents, claiming that he rescued her from the perpetrators. However, the abuse he committed against the victim came to light after the girl shared her ordeal with her mother.
