18-Year-Old Victim Shot During Basketball Game In Dallas, Dies

Marc Strickland, the 18-year-old victim who was shot during a basketball game in Dallas last week, has died.
Strickland was shot to the chest while watching a basketball game between Kimball and Oak Cliff high schools on January 11, said the Associated Press, citing police statement.
Police news release said Strickland succumbed to his injuries and died Friday, according to Fox News.

The 15-year-old boy, whose name was not released by authorities due to his age, was charged with aggravated assault following his surrender the day after the shooting.
He is now facing a murder charge, as pointed out by Fox News.

Police also told the outlet that the shooting ensued after a fight at a concession stand erupted. Authorities were escorting teenagers out the gymnasium when the shooting happened.
A school district police officer was grazed by the bullet, but was not seriously injured, police told the Associated Press.
Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said Strickland was a former student in the district, while the 15-year-old suspect was a current student.
