A 19-year-old boy was shot dead after a fight broke out between school students in the Indian capital of New Delhi.

The incident was reported in front of Akshay Public School in the city Saturday. The deceased, identified as Khurshid, was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead, The New Indian Express reported.

"The person deceased has been identified as Khurshid while the one booked for firing at him was identified as Sahil alias Monu alias Lather. Khurshid was rushed to Tarak Hospital where he was declared brought dead," the Delhi police said, as reported by the outlet.

Cops arrested the suspect, 19-year-old Sahil, a resident of Nangli Dairy. A country-made pistol was recovered from his possession at the time of his arrest, Hindusthan Times reported.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Vikram Singh shared details about the commotion.

"During this quarrel, one person fired upon another, who sustained a gunshot injury. He was taken to a hospital and was declared dead on arrival. No eyewitness has come forward. A case of murder and firing has been registered and an investigation is on," he told Hindusthan Times.

Two other persons were also arrested in connection with the incident alongside Sahil, according to the Free Press Journal. The actual reason behind the scuffle wasn't clear.

In April 2021, 18-year-old Zachary Burkard of Springfield, Virginia, was arrested for fatally shooting two other teens at his house. Four teenagers had reportedly barged into Bukard's home after an argument on social media. A fight broke out between them during which, Burkard came out of the residence and shot two of the boys. Cops arrived at the scene to find one victim dead in the garage, while another's body was found in front of the house. Bukard was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
