19-Year-Old TikToker Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself While Making Fake Suicide Video
A 19-year-old TikToker in Pakistan died Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself while making a fake suicide video.
The incident took place in the country's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Swat district. The police said the teenager, identified by only his first name Hamidullah, pulled the trigger of a loaded TT pistol while filming the short video. His friend, who was at the scene, rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors at the facility said Hamidullah was dead on arrival.
The victim's body was sent for an autopsy and the police launched an investigation.
“This boy was pretending to commit suicide with a loaded pistol. He put the gun on his head and then it suddenly misfired. The unfortunate youngster died on the spot as he was directly hit in the head. There was no chance of survival,” a police official told the Express Tribune.
The video of the teenager's accidental death circulated on social media, causing panic among other users of the video-sharing site. The police also received the video in which Hamidullah was seen putting the on his head "jokingly."
The victim's family members said that Hamidullah took the gun from home, but he did not know there were bullets in it.
"He planned to film a suicide video and arranged a pistol. Unaware of bullets in the pistol, he went to a nearby mountain with his friends where they started filming the video," an eyewitness said, according to ANI News, adding the victim put the pistol on his temple when it went off accidentally.
Last month, a man was severely injured after he accidentally shot himself while cleaning a rifle at his home in Thailand. The victim was identified as 42-year-old Thammarat Kaewkomonman. The police and paramedics arrived at the man's house and found him lying in a pool of blood. The man had a gunshot wound on the left side of his chest and an exit hole in his back. The man’s teenage son was playing video games with his friends in the same room when the shooting took place. Investigators said the victim forgot to unload the rifle before cleaning it.
