2 Kids Aged Below 10 Found Tied Up, Dead Inside Miami Apartment

The bodies of a little boy and a girl under the age of 10 were found inside a Miami apartment. A woman, who appeared to be mentally unstable, was taken into custody after the children's bodies were found tied up in one of the rooms.

Miami police arrived at the Little Haiti neighborhood after receiving several hang-up calls to 911 between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. Cops said the calls came from inside the house, according to Local 10 News.

The woman who spoke to cops at the scene appeared to be hallucinating, the authorities said.

“She was having a mental crisis and was irate,” Miami Police Spokesman Michael Vega said, according to Miami Herald.

Cops made their way inside the apartment and found a boy and girl, reportedly tied up and lying unresponsive on a bed. First responders failed to resuscitate the children, and they were eventually pronounced dead.

7News reported that the children appeared to be aged 5 and 7.

“Officers looked inside the apartment, where the calls were coming from, and observed two minor children that appeared to be unresponsive,” officer Vega said, according to the outlet. “Fire rescue was called to the scene and declared both children were deceased.”

The identity of the 41-year-old woman was not revealed. Cops also did not disclose details about whether the woman was related to the children or if she had anything to do with their deaths. She was seen being removed from the scene on a stretcher and has since been taken into custody.

A lady who claimed to be the deceased children's godmother said the woman taken into custody was their mother and that she struggled with her mental health, as per 7News. She further claimed that the mother had begged her to adopt the kids if she couldn’t take care of them.

When the self-identified godmother arrived at the scene, she reportedly didn't know what was going on and found out her godchildren were dead only after asking around.

In an unrelated incident reported last year, a 4-year-old child was found unresponsive inside a Brooklyn apartment. The boy’s body was found after his mother and their neighbors flagged down officers patrolling the area. Cops rushed to the apartment to find the unresponsive boy along with his stepfather, who was taken into custody for questioning. The boy was rushed to the hospital but eventually pronounced dead.
