2 Ohio State Football Players Arrested, Charged For Rape, Kidnapping
Two senior players of Ohio State Buckeyes football team, representing Ohio State University, were arrested and charged Tuesday with abducting and raping a woman, according to court documents.
Amir Riep, 21, and Jahsen Wint, 21 were facing first-degree rape with the threat of force, and kidnapping with engaging in sexual activity charges awarded by Franklin County Municipal Court in Ohio.
The victim filed a complaint against Riep and Wint Tuesday for allegedly raping her on Feb. 4 in Sawmill Place Boulevard and asking to say in a video recording that it was consensual. The unidentified victim was seen crying and Riep laughing at her in the video, per the documents.
Ohio State University declared late Tuesday night that the accused were suspended indefinitely from all the football team activities.
“We are aware that two of our students have been arrested and criminally charged. They have been suspended from all activities involving the football program. We will share more information when available,” they said in a statement.
Riep, a Cincinnati native, is a cornerback who played 37 games altogether for Ohio State Buckeyes. Wint, originally from Brooklyn, New York, is also a senior cornerback who appeared in total 35 games for the team, ABC 6 reported. Riep is majoring in sports industry while Wint is majoring in human development and family science, according to ABC 7.
They are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning, Eleven Warriors reported.
