2017 Grammy Awards: Twitter Reacts To Beyoncé’s First Performance Post-Pregnancy Announcement
Just under two weeks after announcing that she and husband Jay Z were expecting twins together five years after the birth of their first child, Beyoncé took the stage at the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
Fans feared the very-pregnant songstress wouldn’t be able to deliver her usual high caliber performance during the award show. Their doubts were erased within minutes of her stepping foot on the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Beyoncé combined stunning visuals and haunting vocals to wow all who were watching live and at home. She sang two songs — “Love Draught” and “Sandcastles” off her visual album “Lemonade” — as holograms, trick chairs and a group of talented dancers assisted. Twitter was filled with positive and positively hilarious reactions to Beyoncé’s performance.
Beyoncé’s show-stopping performance confirmed rumors circulating ahead of the show. TMZ reported that she was going to be taking it slower than usual during the 59th annual Grammy Awards. Sources told the publication she was “very pregnant” and did not want to confirm her performance until at least Saturday for fear she would not be able to take the stage. The anonymous tipsters told TMZ she would be using digital screens and other illusions to keep the energy high.
In addition to her performance, Beyoncé is nominated for an astounding nine awards at the 2017 Grammys. Those awards include record, album and song of the year. She is also in the running for best pop solo performance, best rock performance, best urban contemporary album, best music film, best music video and best rap/sung performance.
