On Friday night, "20/20" will examine the case of Dalia Dippolito and the murder-for-hire plot that she had once attempted to put into place. In 2009, Dalia had been secretly recorded trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband, Michael Dippolito. During the new episode, ABC News correspondent Amy Robach will explore "shocking new details" and interviews during the special event.

After authorities were alerted to her attempts to have her husband killed, they staged a crime scene in order to convince Dalia that Michael had, in fact, been murdered. As a result, "cameras caught every second, from her reaction to what she believed was her husband’s murder to police busting her with their undercover recordings," according to a press release.

Following the charges, she was found guilty of soliciting first-degree murder in 2017 and subsequently began serving out her sentence behind bars.

Dalia's motives for the crime are set to be examined during Friday's new episode of the ABC show, which, states someone close to the case, focused on a desire for material possessions. As seen in the preview below, Dalia did not just want the house and money that the couple shared, but "she wanted it all."

The two-hour event will also showcase police footage of law enforcement alerting Michael to Dalia's attempt and new interviews with Dalia herself.

In the preview below, Robach directly asks her whether she wanted her then-husband to be harmed in any way. To that, Dalia responds, "No, never."

The new episode of the ABC show will also feature footage from Dalia's police interrogation, including the moment she was confronted with the supposed hitman she had previously attempted to hire. Additionally, Dalia Dippolito’s attorney, Brian Claypool, will give an update on her life behind bars and how she has dealt with being away from her 4-year-old son as she completes her prison sentence.

This new two-hour episode of "20/20," called "Down Payment on Death," will air Friday night at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
