Rum is a popular alcohol that can be mixed into several different delicious cocktails. Thankfully, even when using it for every drink in your arsenal, you will have no reason to pull out your best Captain Jack Sparrow impersonation today, because the rum won’t be gone—it's National Rum Day!
Today is the best day to celebrate this popular and delicious spirit. So kick back and enjoy these final days of summer, by celebrating with one of these 23 delicious rum cocktails.
Angry Hard Cider Slushy:
To make this frozen delight, combine 5 oz. Angry Orchard Crisp Apple cider, 1 oz. White Rum, 0.75 oz. Lime Juice, 2.5 tbsp. White Sugar, 4 Strawberries and 2 Cups Ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a rocks glass and garnish with a strawberry.
Bahama Mama: The islands will be calling, and you can answer that call with this delicious drink combining two kinds of rum with juices and other ingredients.
Bermuda Rum Swizzle:
Fill a pitcher 1/3 of the way with crushed ice. Add 4 oz. Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, 4 oz. Gosling’s Gold Seal Rum, 5 oz. Pineapple Juice, 5 oz. Orange Juice, ¾ oz. Grenadine or 2 oz. Bermuda Falernum and 6 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Churn vigorously until a frothing appears or mix in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a martini glass to serve.
Berry Delicious Daiquiri:
Give your traditional Daiquiri a new twist with this recipe. Combine 2 oz. Zaya Rum, 1 oz. Lime Juice, ½ oz. Simple Syrup ½ cup fresh mixed berries in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard to chill and combine the ingredients, then fine strain into a coupe glass.
Boba Colada:
This recipe, compliments of Headquarters Beercade River North in Chicago, brings a special delight to the cocktail with the addition of Boba. To make, add 30 grams of Strawberry Bursting Boba to the bottom of a Collins glass and set aside. Add 0.25 oz. Lime, 0.25 oz. Simple Syrup, 1.5 oz. Pineapple Juice, 1 oz. Cruzan Aged Rum and 1.5 oz. Shipwreck Coconut Rum Cream in a cocktail shaker with ice, then shake hard until combined. Strain into the Collins glass, add 2 or 3 ice cubes and garnish with two pineapple leaves and a Boba straw before serving.
Breakfast Colada:
Malibu is a popular rum for a reason, and this recipe is one of the reasons why. Place 6 parts small strawberries and 2 parts passion fruit syrup on the bottom of a footed goblet. Combine 2 parts Malibu original, 1 ½ Coconut Purée or Heavy Cream, ½ Pineapple, ¼ Lime, 4 parts Coffee Concentrate and 3 parts Demerara Sugar and pour on top of the berries and syrup. Garnish with a pineapple leaf and a fresh strawberry fan.
El Floridita: Also known as a Hemingway Daiquiri, this simple drink is perfect for National Rum Day.
Green Tea Punch:
Combine 5 parts brewed Sencha Tea and 4 parts brewed Mint Tea with 4 parts Demerara Sugar and stir to dissolve. Add 1 cup of ice to bring the tea to room temperature, then add 9 parts Banks 5 Island Rum and 4 parts Lime Juice. Fill a pitcher with ice, and serve by straining into punch cups.
Havana Especial:
Combine 1 part Havana Club Añejo Blanco Rum, 2 parts pineapple juice and 1 barspoon Maraschino Liqueur in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with crushed ice.

Place ice in a cocktail shaker or stirring vessel. Add 2 parts Facundo Eximo rum, 1 part sweet vermouth and 4 dashes of aromatic bitters. Stir and strain into a glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
My-Tie:
This fun take on a Mai Tai is easy to make. Build 1 oz. Orgeat, 1.5 oz. Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, 3 oz. Pineapple Juice and 1 oz. Lime Juice in a shaker with ice. Shake hard and strain into a tiki glass over crushed ice. Top with 1 oz. Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum and garnish with a pineapple flag.
Night Moves:
This beer cocktail features rum and is a delicious option to make. Combine 1 oz. Rum, ¾ oz. Cold brew, 1/5 oz. Condensed milk and 1/5 oz. Falernum. Pour over ice and top with one bottle of Elysian’s Punkuccino Coffee Pumpkin Ale.
Old Cuban:
Shake 1 ½ parts Bacardi Riserva Ocho, 4 mint leaves, 2/3 part sugar syrup, ½ part lime juice and 2 dashes of bitters. Double strain and top with 2 parts Prosecco. Garnish with a mint leaf float

Smoked Old-Fashioned:
This recipe, from Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar in Atlanta, is a fantastic option for the holiday. Stir 2 oz. Santa Teresa 1796, ¼ Demerara Syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 2 dashes orange bitters and pour into a glass bottle. Fill the bottle with hickory smoke using a smoking gun. Serve over ice and garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel and a maraschino cherry.
Smoky Piña Colada:
Shake 1 oz. Pineapple HI-CHEW Infused Overproof Rum, 1 oz. Pineapple HI-CHEW Infused Joven Mezcal, 2 oz. Pineapple Juice, 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice, 0.5 oz. Coconut Milk, 0.5 oz. Coco Lopez and 0.5 oz. Cinnamon Syrup with ice in a cocktail shaker, then strain over cracked ice in a tiki mug. Finish off by garnishing with pineapple, lime and a paper parasol.
Sparkling Watermelon Mojito:
This refreshing and light beverage is an excellent option. To make, in a short cocktail glass, muddle 5-10 mint leaves. Pour in ½ oz freshly squeezed lime juice, ¾ oz- 1 ½ oz simple syrup, 3 oz watermelon juice and 1 ½ oz white rum, then stir. Top with ice, then pour in 3 ounces of Barefoot Bubbly Pinot Grigio.
Strawberry Lemonade Jello Shot:
Bring 1 cup Strawberry Watermelon Sparkling Ice to a boil and add to 1 package of strawberry Jello until dissolved. Add ½ cup Coconut Rum and ½ cup vodka, then place a slice of strawberry into each one-ounce cup.
