It has been four years since “24” aired its final episode, but on May 5, the series is returning to Fox with the ultimate reboot: “24: Live Another Day.” Don’t remember how the series ended? We’re here to give a brief recap of the epic two-hour series finale that left viewers wanting more.

The series finale of “24” began on Day 8 and showed the series of events that occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.:

Pillar: Jack sneaks into the U.N. building by holding Pillar at gunpoint. He then forces Pillar to stitch up his knife wound before holding a gun to his head. But after all the bloodshed and high body count in Season 8, Jack spares Pillar’s life … and instead knocks him out with the butt of his gun.

The Peace Treaty: Problems with the peace treaty with the Islamic Republic arise when President Taylor becomes overwhelmed with her part in covering up President Hassan’s death. Things get tricky when Hassan’s wife, Dalia, finds out about the Russian’s involvement -- and the fact that President Taylor knew. Dalia threatens to expose the truth, but President Taylor puts the kibosh on that with a threat of her own.

Jack’s Plan: Face recognition software alerts Chloe of Jack’s location -- and that he’s preparing to assassinate someone. Chloe goes to Jack and tries to talk him down by revealing that they can expose President Logan’s involvement with Russian Federation President Suvarov with the chip. However, Jack doesn’t listen. Knocking Chloe out, Jack aims his rifle at President Logan’s U.N. office. Calling President Logan, Jack forces him to get Suvarov into his office following the signing of the peace treaty.

Jack’s Plan Part 2: Suvarov enters Logan’s office, but when Chloe wakes, she convinces Jack to not go through with his assassination plan. Jack agrees and gives a memory card. And the game changer comes at a good time, because Cole and his team storm the building. In order to save Chloe from making it look like they were working together, Jack forces Chloe to shoot him and is taken by Cole’s team.

The Memory Card: Pillar discovers the memory card and puts Chloe and Cole in custody. The disk ends up in Logan’s hands, and he takes it to President Taylor. Believing the card to hold incriminating evidence, Logan convinces Taylor to have Jack killed. But Taylor changes her mind when she watches Jack’s recording on the memory card.

Taylor’s Decision: Both Suvarov and Dalia sign the peace treaty. However, President Taylor hesitates. Overcome with guilt, Taylor refuses to sign the peace treaty. And her decision sets off a series of insane events.

Logan And Pillar’s Fate: Upon hearing of President Taylor’s decision, Logan and Pillar begin to panic. Worried about being implicated, Logan makes the decision to shoot Pillar in the head before shooting himself. But Logan doesn’t die. Instead, he’s placed on life support -- and can’t tell anyone about Jack’s assassination orders.

Jack’s Fate: Chloe, Cole and Arlo are able to find Jack in the nick of time. Letting Jack go, President Taylor reveals that she’s not only going to come clean about her involvement in the peace treaty, but that’s she’s going to resign as well. Taylor gives Jack a chance to escape the country before U.S. and Russian law enforcement begin their search for him.

The Ending: The “24” finale concluded with Jack thanking Chloe and asking her to protect his family. Jack heads off and Chloe shuts down the drone camera with the final clock concluding at 00:00:00.
