3-Year-Old Left Home Alone By Parents Falls To Her Death From Balcony
A toddler girl in India who was left home alone by her parents tragically died after she slipped and fell from the balcony of their apartment. The incident was reported in the Poonamallee suburb of Chennai city in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
3-year-old R Vincia Aditi was found unconscious near the apartment complex Monday. A security guard spotted the child lying on the ground and immediately called the girl's parents, who returned home and took her to the hospital.
"Since the child did not have any injury marks on her body, the parents did not know that she had fallen from the balcony until they found the CCTV footage," an investigating officer said, as reported by The Times of India.
An investigation revealed that Aditi's father, A Ravi, left home early morning to take his elder son to football practice. A little later, the girl's mother, Sindhiya Herin, went for a walk while Aditi was asleep at home.
"The child was sleeping and the parents had locked all the doors. However, an hour later, the watchman of the apartment complex called up the parents informing them that Aditi was found unconscious..." Chidambara Murugesan, a senior investigating officer said, The New Indian Express reported.
Cops believe that Aditi might have gotten alarmed when she woke up and her parents were nowhere to be found. The little girl must have slipped and fallen after she climbed on a chair left on the balcony, police said.
The girl did not have visible bruises on her body but had suffered internal bleeding, the medical reports revealed. Aditi's mother said the girl had breathing difficulties before she succumbed to death at the hospital.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and have started an investigation.
Last month, a toddler in Turkey who fell from the balcony of an apartment balcony was unwittingly saved by a man whose body acted as a barrier to break the sudden fall. The pedestrian, Ruhi Asci was hailed a hero for saving the toddler, identified as Khatira Amiri from the Haci Ilyas neighborhood in Amasya, a city in northern Turkey.
