- Gamers can also try “Valorant,” which lets players buy the same guns but use special skills unique to each character
While many would probably consider 2020 a “bad” year, it hasn't been all bad. The year also saw the release of some of the best video games and content for players available right now.
Here’s a quick look at some of this year’s best games to play on a PC. While some of them were originally released before 2020, they were either ported to the PC or were given updates and new content this year.
“Valorant”
Popular “League of Legends” maker Riot Games released an exciting first-person shooter called “Valorant” just this year. Unlike other MOBAs and shooters, this title lets players buy the same guns while using special skills unique to each character.
Just like in “Overwatch,” “Valorant” players can utilize their unique skills to tip the scales in their favor. Unlike “Overwatch,” however, players will be brandishing the same rifles and handguns.
“Star Wars: Squadrons”
Those who’ve always wanted to fly an X-Wing will enjoy “Star Wars: Squadrons.” This dogfighting simulator can be played solo or with friends, using a traditional monitor or a virtual reality headset like the SteamVR or Oculus. The Verge noted that “it’s not a simple game to play.”
“Among Us”
InnerSloth’s popular deception game was originally released in 2018 but was ported to the Nintendo Switch, with cross-play features, just this year. This means PC players can run, hide and seek with other players on the Nintendo handheld now.
“Among Us” puts four to 10 players in a game of deception. One or two “Impostors” are bent on killing “Crewmates,” whose main goal is to finish all their tasks without getting killed.
It’s a very popular title – so much that it won best mobile game and best multiplayer game during the recent The Game Awards night.
“Hades”
Supergiant, known for “Bastion,” “Transistor” and “Pyre,” has created the excellent game “Hades.” The Verge noted that this game features “excellent” and “often funny” writing, “tons” of depth and “responsive” controls.
Players are placed in the shoes of a man named Zagreus, who is on a mission to make it out of the underworld alive. Unlike other games, players will need to start from scratch every time they die anywhere in the game – even if they’re almost at the point of finishing it.
