4-Year-Old Boy, Toddler Brother Die After Falling Into Septic Tank While Mom Sings Karaoke

A 4-year-old boy and his toddler brother fell into an uncovered septic tank and died while their mother loudly sang karaoke.

The children were playing Wednesday last week around the tank near their home in Dusun Makmur, Indonesia, when they fell into it, World of Buzz reported.

Their mother, identified as 35-year-old Suhar, was cleaning the home and singing karaoke at high volume when the incident took place. A while later, she realized that she hadn’t seen her children for long and went outside to check on them only to find out that they had fallen into the tank, the publication said.

Upon seeing the children motionless inside the tank, the mother started screaming for help. A neighbor heard the screams and rushed to the scene. He jumped into the tank to pull the children out. They were rushed to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

According to Serambinews, a police case has been registered, and preliminary investigation revealed that the septic tank was open as its construction had come to a halt due to no funding.

"According to information, the hole was just made, and the plan was to turn it into a septic tank. However, it is still left without a cover because there is no funding to construct it," a police officer told the local news outlet.

Another officer said they were investigating and will "soon determine the suspect in the case."

The funeral services took place Thursday.
