The body of a 4-year-old girl that was discovered near a hospital in Hyderabad, India, was reportedly left there by her mother and her partner.
According to the cops, the victim, Mehak, was unwilling to beg like her mother Heena Begum, 22, and her live-in partner Shaik Mohammed Khadar alias Rizwan, who were both alms seekers, reports The Hindu.
The girl didn't like her mother's new paramour either, and her refusal to beg for money is what got her killed, the police added, according to The Times of India.
The little girl's body had severe injuries inflicted by Begum and Khadar. They were in Bengaluru, India, when the incident occurred. “On November 3, while they were in Bengaluru, the duo thrashed the deceased severely by giving fist blows on her abdomen and kicked her. Due to this assault, the child became unconscious,” Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone) A.R. Srinivas said on Saturday.
Once Mehak lost her consciousness, the couple got scared, and decided to board a bus from Bengaluru to Hyderabad immediately. But, during their journey, they noticed that the little girl's body had turned ice cold, as she had died due to her extensive injuries.
In a bid to get away with the murder, the couple abandoned the child's lifeless body on the road and fled. “To escape getting caught and to erase the evidence, they left the body near NIMS (Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences) so that it is assumed that some poor patient has left it,” Mr. Srinivas said. “Accordingly, they left it on the footpath in front of Dwarakapuri Colony, and fled and then, went to Ajmer,” he said.
Initially, the body was a mystery, but an autopsy confirmed the cause of death and cops also found a CCTV footage nailing Heena Begum, which helped them trace them to Rajasthan. The two accused were arrested and brought back to Hyderabad, states Telangana Today.
It was only after their arrest that cops found out Begum was married to one Ahmed and they had three children, including Mehak. Ahmed, a property offender, is currently in judicial remand. Heena, meanwhile, met Rizwan at a toddy compound, where she shared all her problems with him, and the two began an illicit affair with each other.
“Khadar proposed to her and promised to take care of her children. The duo along with the girl and son Affan went to Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, and Manali and were eking their livelihood by begging. They were also making the children beg,” the officer said.
The child was unhappy with her mom's new partner and her life, and all she wanted was to go back to her father, the officer added.
