Though some of the biggest games scheduled for this year have already launched back in February, there are still plenty of upcoming titles that gamers can look forward to in the coming months.
Possibilities for delays aside, here’s a list of some of the most anticipated video game releases for 2022.
“Starfield”
The next big RPG is much closer than many people think. “Starfield” is an open-world sci-fi RPG that’s currently being developed by “Skyrim” makers Bethesda Softworks, and to say that it’s hyped up would be an understatement.
“Starfield” has been on the radar of many gamers ever since it was announced back in 2018. Thankfully, Bethesda fans will only have to wait a few more months before this new entry is finally released.
“Gotham Knights”
Stalk the city of Gotham and foil the Court of Owls in “Gotham Knights,” an upcoming action game set in the DC universe. Play as Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Red Hood as they protect the city from the schemes of the Owls while Batman handles bigger problems elsewhere.
The game had previously been delayed, but Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that “Gotham Knights” will launch this coming October.
“Warhammer 40k Darktide”
The successor to the rat-slaying “Vermintide” will be taking the fight to the hive cities of the Imperium of Man in “Warhammer 40k Darktide.” This four-player co-op shooter will bring all of the highlights of the previous game into the grimdark future, featuring lore-accurate environments, weapons, characters and more.
Fatshark recently announced that “Darktide” is finally due to release on Sept. 13.
“System Shock Remake”
The remake for the classic “System Shock” game is finally getting closer to release following a tumultuous development cycle. Developed by Nightdive Studios, the remake will bring the AI-powered horrors of the Citadel Station back to life in gorgeous graphics fit for modern rigs.
Fans of the original game can expect “System Shock Remake” to release before the end of 2022.
“Baldur’s Gate 3”
Although “Baldur’s Gate 3” is already available on Steam via Early Access, there’s still some time before the game reaches 1.0 status. Fans can expect more content down the road, and once everything is in place, gamers might be in for one of the best CRPGs of the decade.
Larian is yet to provide an exact release date, but the full game is expected to come out this year.
