'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: Jamie Dornan Tweets Love Story Ad As First Public Comment After Christian Grey Casting
Christian Grey has finally spoken.
Almost two weeks after “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James announced that actor Jamie Dornan would take on the coveted role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation, the actor surfaced on Twitter -- but not to talk about the casting. The 31-year-old Irish native didn’t use his newfound fame to address his role in the film of the best-selling erotic book series, but rather used social media to promote an ad for family friends.
“People I care about made an advert,” Dornan wrote late Tuesday, adding, “Apart from the obvious fire hazard, I think it’s great. Looking sharp, CB!” tweeted the star.
The advertisement, which promotes Fred J. Malcolm Ltd., a family-owned jewelry store based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, doesn’t portray Dornan as Christian Grey, but it does tell the love story of a man and a woman and the man's extensive efforts to pull off an elaborate marriage proposal.
According to the Fred J. Malcolm Ltd. Twitter page, the star of the clip tweeted by Dornan is an individual named Conor Brady. According to the store, Dornan wasn’t able to star in the commercial due to his busy filming schedule. “@JamieDornan1 It was a toss-up between Johnny’s son of Jim’s son (your dad), but we heard on the grapevine that you’re a bit busy” tweeted the store Tuesday following Dornan’s promotion of the advertisement.
Dornan last updated his Twitter account in late September following the completion of his most recent project, the romance film “Flying Home," directed by Dominique Deruddere. “That’s a wrap! #newworlds #ineedsleep” the actor posted Sept. 27.
James, 50, announced that Dornan would take on the role of her book series' sexually sadistic Seattle billionaire on Twitter in October after the sudden departure of the film’s former star, “Sons of Anarchy” actor Charlie Hunnam. Dornan is set to start filming the first installment of the three-book series in early December in Vancouver alongside former "Ben and Kate" sitcom star Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele).
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is scheduled to premiere in theaters Aug. 1, 2014.
