More than 50,000 Russian soldiers have died since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, according to a report.

At least 350 Russian soldiers were killed in combat Tuesday, bringing the Russian army's overall military death toll to 50,150, according to estimates published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF).

Of the 350 deaths reported Tuesday, 83 Russian troops were killed during the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive operations in southern Ukraine, according to an update posted to Facebook by the country's Operation Command South (OCS).

In addition to losses among personnel, the Russian army has also lost approximately 2,077 tanks, 4,484 combat armored machines, 1,179 artillery systems, and 3,305 vehicles and fuel tanks in the war, the report said.

The UAF General Staff noted that the Russian army has suffered the biggest losses in the direction of Donetsk Oblast.

The new estimates of the Russian military death toll come as Ukraine continues its efforts to push Moscow's forces out of areas in southern Ukraine. Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for Ukraine's southern command, on Sept. 6 reported that the country's army successfully liberated several settlements in Kherson Oblast. It was not specified what settlements were reclaimed from Russian forces.

"The situation in the south is difficult, but controlled by the Defense Forces," Humeniuk said during a national broadcast, Ukrinform reported. "We continue positional battles, consolidate and improve our position along the front line. We continue taking measures to destroy the enemy's forces and capacities, in particular logistics."

Humeniuk added that Ukrainian forces destroyed three pontoon crossings last week and another one this week, making it difficult for Russia to redeploy its forces.

Apart from its counteroffensive in the southern Ukrainian regions, the country's army has been active in Kharkiv Oblast in the northeast. The Ukrainian army has also made gains near the town of Balakliia in the Kharkiv region, according to The Kyiv Independent.

Ukraine launched its counteroffensive operations last week with the aim of retaking and reclaiming the Kherson region and its surrounding area. Doing so would give Ukraine access to the Black Sea.
