6 Alcoholic Hot Drinks To Keep You Warm This Winter
Friday marks the winter solstice, which means it’s only going to get colder out. No matter how you feel about the season as a whole and the snow activities usually associated with it, there’s one thing you can definitely look forward to taking advantage of over the next three months: All the delicious, hot, alcoholic drinks you can enjoy.
Here are 6 boozy hot drink recipes to keep you warm this winter.
Kim Crawford Blanc Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
- 4 oz Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
- 3 tbsp sweet ground white chocolate powder
- 3 oz. hot water
- ¾ oz. crème de cacao (white)
- Pinch white chocolate nibs
- 3-4 meringues
Pre-warm your coffee mug, while, in a saucepan, you’re combing the white chocolate powder and hot water to make a syrup. Add in the crème de cacao and Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and stir until everything’s nice and hot. Pour the drink into the mug and garnish with the white chocolate nibs and meringues.
Kentucky Coffee
Ingredients:
- 1.25 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
- 2.5 oz. coffee of choice
- Vanilla Brown Sugar Syrup (to taste)
- Creamer (to taste)
Stay warm and feeling good this winter by simply combining Bulleit Bourbon and coffee in a mug, with just a little vanilla brown sugar syrup and creamer to taste.
Orange & Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Smirnoff Peppermint Twist
- 0.5 oz. Triple Sec
- 8 oz. Hot Chocolate
To make this twist on the classic hot drink, courtesy of Simply Darrling’s Kendra Darling, simply add the ingredients in a mug and stir. To up the ante, stir it with a candy cane, and leave the treat in there for some extra flavor. Feel free to garnish with a candied orange peel.
RUFFINO Chianti Cider
Ingredients:
- 3½ parts Ruffino Chianti DOCG
- ½ part honey
- 1 part apple cider
- ¼ part lemon juice
- Spice sachet (cinnamon, clove, anise)
- Orange peels
- Apple slices
- Cinnamon stick (garnish)
Put all of the ingredients in a pot and heat on low for at least an hour. Then, remove it from the flame and serve the delicious concoction in a mug with a cinnamon stick as a garnish.
Fireplace Hot Toddy
Ingredients:
- 1 Smith Teamaker Lord Bergamot sachet
- 1.25 oz. Bulleit Rye
- Lemon peel (recommended addition)
- French lavender (recommended addition)
- Pink peppercorns (recommended addition)
- Lemon (garnish)
Take your steaming cup of tea and make it boozy with this Smith Teamaker recipe. Put one Smith Teamaker Lord Bergamot sachet in a mug and add boiling water. Be sure to leave enough room, not for milk, but for whiskey. Steep it for five minutes before adding the Bulleit Rye and removing the sachet.
Pink Velvet Hot Chocolate at Legasea at Moxy Times Square
Ingredients:
- 4 cups soy milk
- 1 cup Godiva white chocolate
- 1 cup vanilla vodka
- White hot chocolate mix
- Red food coloring
- Whip cream & edible pink glitter (garnish)
Pretend you’re warming yourself up at the New York City restaurant and bar, where Nikki McCutcheon’s the beverage manager, by putting together this recipe of theirs. Simply make up the white hot chocolate with the soy milk and Godiva, before adding in the vanilla vodka. Add in the red food coloring to turn the drink into a nice pink color. Garnish with whip cream and edible pink glitter.
