6 Delicious Cocktails For National Rum Day
Tropical island life might just be a dream for some these days thanks to Coronavirus, but even if heading out to enjoy some drinks with friends isn’t in the cards this year, rum lovers can get that island life feel with a cocktail at home on National Rum Day.
Whether you prefer lighter rums, dark rum, or ones that are spiced, these six cocktails are sure to help get you in the spirit.
Beach Side Chiller
What You Need:
- 1.5 oz Captain Morgan original spiced rum
- 0.5 oz Captain Morgan white coconut rum
- 4 ounces pineapple juice
- 1 oz cream of coconut
- 1 oz orange juice
To make, simply mix all ingredients together in a glass and garnish with a pineapple leaf before serving.
Maple Rummy
What You Need:
- 3 ounces Barefoot Chardonnay
- ½ ounce dark rum
- ½ ounce maple syrup
- 1/8 lime wedge
To make, pour Chardonnay, rum and syrup into a rocks glass and stir until the syrup is fully dissolved. Fill the glass with ice, squeeze the lime wedge into the glass and then drop it in.
Pineapple Vacay
What You Need:
- 2 ounces Zaya Rum
- ¾ ounce of lime juice
- ½ ounce of coconut simple syrup
- ½ ounce of pineapple juice
To make, add all ingredients to a shaker, then shake and strain into a coupe glass.
Pink Pineapple Dream
What You Need:
- ¼ cup pineapple juice, chilled
- 2 ounces light rum
- 8.4 ounce Ocean Spray sparkling juice drink (any flavor), chilled
- Fresh pineapple wedge
- Maraschino cherry
To make, combine pineapple juice and rum in a tall glass filled with ice, then pour in the sparkling juice drink. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry.
Santa Teresa 1796 Old Fashioned
What You Need:
- 1.5 oz Santa Teresa 1796
- 0.25 oz. Demerara syrup
- 4 dashes angostura bitters
To make, build all ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir 30-40 seconds and pour over ice in a double old-fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange or a lemon twist.
Tiki Split
What You Need:
- 1.5 oz Bali Hai Tiki Monkey
- 0.75 oz Cutwater Barrel Aged Rum
- 0.5 oz strawberry syrup
- 0.5 oz. Vanilla syrup
To make, combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, add ice and then shake until cold. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with shaved chocolate and a strawberry.
