7-Month-Old Baby Found With Injuries To Genitals After Being Abducted While Sleeping
A 7-month-old baby in India was found with bleeding wounds on her lips and genitals, hours after she went missing Monday.
The incident took place in Guntur, a city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, the baby girl was sleeping with her mother outside their house when she was abducted. The mother woke up late at night, and found her daughter was missing, following which the family members began searching for the infant. A few hours later, the unconscious baby was discovered near some bushes close to the house, The New Indian Express reported.
The child was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where doctors said she had injuries to her face and genitals. The family suspected the baby had been sexually assaulted by an unknown person who wanted to take revenge on them.
“In the complaint, Anajaiah (the victim's parents) mentioned four persons visited their residence on Monday evening. We are investigating all the possible suspects,” a senior officer Bhaktavatchala Reddy reportedly said, adding the infant was receiving treatment Guntur Government General Hospital.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim's parents, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police officials told The Hans India they were waiting for the medical examination report of the victim to confirm rape.
In another incident, a 9-month-old baby girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor after he took her to his house on the pretext of playing with her. The incident took place in Bulandshahr, a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Authorities said the victim's family found the girl lying in a pool of blood in the neighbor's house. The accused had fled after sexually assaulting the child. The family members of the infant rushed her to a hospital and alerted the police. An investigation was launched, and officials began questioning several relatives of the accused. The identity of the 19-year-old accused was not revealed at the time.
Despite several strict laws in the country, crime against women and female infants have been on the rise for the last few years.
