A scary situation arose last week when a woman in her 70s got stuck in her bath for eight days without food. The unnamed granny could not climb out of her tub at her home in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
A local Meals on Wheels operator phoned local authorities to check out the residence because the older woman isn't answering her calls. Dawn Jackson from Wiltshire Farm Foods started to become concerned when she wasn't able to deliver food for the septuagenarian lady.
Police were able to go inside the house and discovered the woman stuck on her bathtub. Authorities said that the victim was hungry but was fine. She told officers that she had been held hostage by her tub for eight days.
Respondents managed to get her out and took her to the nearest hospital to carry first aid and a doctor's assessment. Suzy Leeson, the owner of Wiltshire Farm Foods, told Metro that it was unusual that "we couldn't get in touch with her over the phone."
Dawn Jackson, a company care assistant, was calling the septuagenarian everyday and she wasn't picking up the calls. Out of desperation, Jackson asked one of Wiltshire Farm Foods' drivers to go around the property and make sure that she was okay.
The driver found a pile of post and decided to call on local authorities, that's when they broke in and discovered her in the tub. The old lady kept herself warm using an electric fire, according to one of the police officers.
The granny is recuperating in the hospital and appears to have made a full recovery. Leeson believes that if her employees hadn't gone around the property, she still would have been stuck in her tub.
She added that she's pleased with how Lenny and Dawn "went out of their way." If it had been stuck longer, the woman could have expired.
