80-Year-Old Texas Woman Shoots Own Daughter To Death Following Domestic Dispute, Arrested
An 80-year-old Texas woman was jailed Thursday for shooting her 52-year-old daughter to death following a domestic dispute earlier this week.
Margaret Ann Johnston was arrested on the scene Tuesday afternoon and charged with murder. She is currently being held at the Kaufman County Jail against a $1,000,000 bail bond, according to CBS-affiliated KTXA-TV.
Deputies with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office responded to Johnston's house at 12000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1836 at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday and found the victim, Connie Lynn Helms, deceased with a gunshot wound to her shoulder, the outlet reported. Johnson was still at the scene, according to Forth Worth Star-Telegram.
Deputies haven't shared any information on what led to the disturbance. Additional information about the case hasn't been shared too.
Helms' body was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Scott Whitaker told Inforney that an investigation is ongoing. It's not clear if Johnston has obtained an attorney.
In November 2019, a 78-year-old Missouri woman was charged with murder after she stabbed her daughter to death in a hotel room. The accused, identified as Marjorie Theleman, was arrested and facing charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Theleman, before killing her daughter, Sharon, checked her out of a nursing home and took her to the Holiday Inn Express on Bowles Avenue in Fenton. After killing Sharon, Theleman allegedly had also attempted to suffocate herself.
