'90 Day Fiancé’ Cast Update: Ashley Shares ‘Heartbreak’ Amid Jay’s Arrest, Safety Threats
“90 Day Fiancé” star Ashley Martson and Jay Smith’s marriage may be over, but that doesn’t mean she wants her ex to suffer. After Jay was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Ashely seemingly addressed her feelings on the matter amid concerns for his safety.
Following the “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?” Season 4 episodes that featured Ashley and Jay’s break up, fans learned Ashley called the police on Jay. Ashley seemed to believe she made the right decision by getting the authorities involved at the time.
However, she recently admitted she was heartbroken to learn Jay was arrested, and at risk of being deported. On Tuesday, Ashley shared an emotional post to her Instagram Story, where she insisted she never thought her marriage to Jay would have an unhappy ending.
“Mark my words this is the hardest day of my life. I can’t believe this is how it ended. The amount of sadness I’m feeling is unfathomable. There is no celebrating over here, just pure heartbreak,” she wrote.
Following Ashley’s post, Jay’s friend created a GoFundMe account in order to free the TLC star after he was detained for violating Ashley’s order of protection.
According to the insider, Jay’s life will be in danger if he returns to Jamaica. The two are hoping he can receive enough donations to hire a lawyer, who could help him stay in the United States.
“Jay fears for his life if he is returned to Jamaica. He is now seen as a traitor who has turned his back on his people, and they will assume he has money since he was in America, and on an American TV show so that keeps him at a continuously high threat for his safety if he is returned home,” Jay’s friend revealed on the donation page.
The “90 Day Fiancé” star’s pal fears Jay will be held at the detention center for months, and face deportation if he doesn’t have a good lawyer.
“Jay has not received his share of the money for being exploited on this tv show, and we are asking help to obtain him a lawyer. Jay arrived here in America as a 20-year-old with a positive outlook, but he has landed in a severely difficult and unjust situation. This young man has been exploited on national television and as any real person knows tv is always far from the actual truth.”
As of Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe page has obtained $738 out of its $5,000 goal. It is unclear if the recent events between Ashley and Jay will be featured on one of the “90 Day Fiancé” spinoffs.
For now, fans can catch “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?” Season 4 on Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on TLC
