A$AP Rocky is opening up about how he wants to raise his son with Rihanna.
Weeks after he and the Fenty Beauty mogul welcomed their first child together, the 33-year-old rapper spoke to Dazed magazine for their summer 2022 issue about the kind of father he wants to be and what he wants to teach his child.
"I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what," he told Dazed when asked about how he envisioned himself as a dad. "I actually love to watch cartoons – I've watched like 'Teletubbies,' 'Blue's Clues,' 'Yo Gabba Gabba,' 'Peppa Pig' and 'Baby Shark.' I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I'm not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents."
Rocky also talked about Barbados, the country where his 34-year-old girlfriend was born and raised, and where his own father came from. The rapper, who has been spending a lot of time in Barbados with the "Diamonds" singer, described the Caribbean country as "unbelievable."
"I had family there that only came up [to New York] once every five years, family I only spoke to over the phone my whole life," he shared. "You remember those one-dollar, five-dollar phone cards? I was raised to know about my heritage, but I was missing the actual experience. I didn't get to experience it until I was an adult. It was one of the most surreal experiences I've encountered in my lifetime."
In her recent interview with Vogue, Rihanna revealed that she wants to raise their child in her home country, calling Barbados her "dream place."
Rihanna and Rocky's baby arrived on May 13, TMZ reported.
The first-time parents are reportedly "doing great" as they take on their new roles, an anonymous source told People. Rihanna "barely" leaves their baby boy's side, the insider said.
"Being a new parent is of course an adjustment, but they are doing great. Their baby boy is healthy and Rihanna is just in awe of him," the source added. "She really was so excited to be pregnant. She loved it. Meeting her son was of course extremely special too."
The insider noted that Rihanna "doesn't seem rushed to get back to work" and "very much enjoys spending quiet time with her baby."
