Aaron Hernandez's former fiancée Shayanna Jenkins remembered the athlete four years after his death.

Jenkins, who gave birth to his daughter Avielle in 2012, had been engaged to Hernandez when he died in 2017 at age 27. She marked the fourth anniversary of his death this Monday by penning an emotional tribute for the former New England Patriots player on social media. In her post, she shared that she still cries over him.

"Since you’ve been gone, the loss hasn’t gotten any easier ... I still hurt. I still cry. I still wonder why," Jenkins wrote on Instagram.

She then shared the quote, "You [sic] memory is what gets me through each day as I remember all the special things about you."

Jenkins shared how she and their now-8-year-old daughter keep his memory alive. "You are missed, loved and thought of heavily today. Avielle and I continue to talk about you and keep your presence alive. May you continue to Rest In Peace and watch over us daily. With love always and forever," she wrote.

Her post received supportive messages from her followers. Many also left red heart emojis in the comments section.

"Praying for you today and everyday," Savannah Faith Chrisley commented.

"Love and loyalty over everything! Live on AH! #81," another fan wrote.

"R.I.P Aaron Hernandez! Continue watching over Avielle and Shay, the loves of your life!" a third user added.

"Long live forever 81 forever in our hearts Ur missed dearly A light up the heaven with that beautiful smile of yours we all remember I know you’re so proud Of Shay for stepping up and raising ur beautiful baby girl," another supporter wrote. "Stay strong Shay he loved you baby girl despite anything!!! Praying for you always God please keep giving you strength."

Last year, Jenkins also paid tribute to Hernandez on their daughter's birthday, which falls on the same day as her dad's.

"I know you cherish this day because it's one you share with your daddy," Jenkins wrote to her daughter on Instagram in November. "Daddy is looking down on you and will continue to guide you forever! May you smile big today and always! I love you ... #Avielleturns8 #daddysgirl #AHforeverHBD."

Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd when he was found by a correction officer hanging in his cell on April 19, 2017. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Hernandez reportedly stuffed his cell door with cardboard then hanged himself using his prison bedsheet. His death was ruled as a suicide, with the medical examiner concluding that the cause of death was asphyxia by hanging.
