Aaron Rodgers-Olivia Munn Update: Family Drama ‘Didn’t Interfere’ With Green Bay Packers Loss To Atlanta Falcons, Source Says
The Green Bay Packers aren’t going to the Super Bowl, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the drama quarterback Aaron Rodgers has with his family. Even though the Rogers’ are feuding, the NFL star’s head was clear when his team played to Atlanta Falcons during the NFL Conference Championships Sunday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
“His personal life didn’t interfere with his performance on the field,” a source told People Magazine Tuesday. “He basically ignored it and practiced as usual — and played as usual.” The Packers were defeated by the Falcons in a devastating blowout loss of 44-21.
“His family’s relationship didn’t have anything to do with the game,” the source added. “Aaron has a lot of focus; it was time to focus on the game, and that’s what he did. It just so happens that they lost, but win or lose, he gave it his all.”
News about the Rodgers family strife when viral when the quarterback’s father, Ed, spoke about it with the New York Times Jan. 15. “Fame can change things,” he told the Times. “It’s complicated... we're all hoping for the best.” He added: “Airing public laundry is not what I would have chosen, but it's good to have it all come out.”
But the feud has been brewing for years. “The family issues are not new,” an insider said. “They happened a long time ago. The only thing new is that it became more public last week.”
That also means the star’s girlfriend, Olivia Munn, is not to blame. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress was erroneously accused of starting the fight. “This is not her issue,” a source said about the actress. “This is the Rodgers’ family issue.”
Since the Packers lost, the Falcons will take on the New England Patriots for Super Bowl 51 Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
