Aaron Rodgers is ready to be a dad after announcing his engagement to "Divergent" star Shailene Woodley.

In a video he shared on Instagram Live with Zenith Watches, he spoke about starting a family. Woodley's fiancé said the "next great challenge will be being a father." The 37-year-old athlete even made reference to his friends who already have their own family.

"I'm in that age group where a lot of my close friends from high school and college are fathers now and have families of their own," the NFL player was quoted by E! as saying. "It's maybe not in the immediate future but definitely something that I really look forward to. I've done a pretty good job at taking care of myself for the last 37 years and look forward to taking care of another life at some point too. I just think it's going to be so fun."

The Green Bay Packers quarterback admitted that he "dreamt about" fatherhood. He is not in a rush but said, "I'm really excited about that chapter whenever that comes."

Rodgers announced his engagement in February when he accepted the NFL MVP award. However, he didn't mention the name of his fiancée at the time, but many were convinced he proposed to Woodley because they had been romantically linked to each other before his announcement.

"2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change and growth, some amazing memorable moments. 180 straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season. I got engaged," he said.

Their engagement shocked some of their friends who thought that Woodley was just a rebound. They thought he was not serious because said it was just a casual thing. Woodley confirmed their engagement but said it happened "for a while."

"For us, it's not new news, you know?" she said. "So it's kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.’"

Woodley never thought she would marry an athlete because the field of sports was never part of her life growing up.
