ABC’s ‘Grand Hotel’ Series Premiere: How You Know The Cast
If you don’t have the time or money for a summer vacation, let ABC’s new Eva Longoria-executive produced series, “Grand Hotel,” be your escape.
Based on the Spanish drama “Gran Hotel,” the new show is set in Miami Beach and follows the lives of those working and staying at the last family-owned hotel in the area.
“Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success,” the synopsis explains. “The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.”
While “Grand Hotel” might be a brand new show, that doesn’t mean you won’t recognize a lot of its stars. Here’s how you might already know the cast:
Demián Bichir (Santiago Mendoza)
In the United States, he’s best known for his roles as Esteban Reyes on Showtime’s “Weeds” and as Marco Ruiz on FX’s “The Bridge,” while in Mexico, he’s known for his telenovelas “Nada Personal” and “Demasiado Corazón."
Roselyn Sánchez (Gigi Mendoza)
After working on the CBS soap opera “As the World Turns” for a year, Sánchez went on to land roles in movies like “Rush Hour 2,” “Boat Trip” and “The Game Plan.” She also starred on the shows “Without a Trace,” as Elena Delgado, and “Devious Maids,” as Carmen Luna.
Denyse Tontz (Alicia Mendoza)
After playing one of the Jennifers (Jennifer #1, to be exact) on Nickelodeon’s “Big Time Rush,” Tontz worked on the ABC soap “All My Children” and, later, on Freeform’s “The Fosters” as Cortney Strathmore.
Bryan Craig (Javi Mendoza)
Aside from starring on ABC’s “General Hospital” from 2013 to 2018, Craig also had roles on shows like Nickelodeon’s “Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures” and The CW’s “Valor.”
Wendy Raquel Robinson (Mrs. P)
Not only did she star as Regina “Piggy” Grier on “The Steve Harvey Show,” but Robinson also starred as Tasha Mack on the long-running CW/BET series “The Game.”
Lincoln Younes (Danny)
The Australian actor worked on a few shows down under, including popular soap opera “Home and Away” and period drama “Love Child.”
Shalim Ortiz (Mateo)
In 2007, the actor portrayed Alejandro Herrera on NBC’s “Heroes,” and then, a few years later, he landed the lead in the Telemundo telenovela “Una Maid en Manhattan,” which was based on Jennifer Lopez’s “Maid in Manhattan” flick. Most recently, he worked on Telemundo’s crime-drama series, “Lady of Steel.”
Anne Winters (Ingrid)
Viewers will best recognize the actress from her roles as Chloe Rice on Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” and Mia Phillips on the go90/Hulu series “Zac and Mia.” She was also in 2018’s “Night School” with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.
Chris Warren (Jason)
While he portrayed Ty Hensdale on Freeform’s “The Fosters” and Patterson on “The Hard Times of RJ Berger,” Warren is best known for his role as part baker/part basketball star/wholly never one to stick to the status quo Zeke Baylor in the “High School Musical” franchise.
Feliz Ramirez (Carolina)
The actress had a small role in Aaron Tveit’s “Better Off Single” movie and was in a 2016 episode of CBS’ “Bull.” This is her first series regular role.
