Actor Found Dead In Virginia Hotel Room While Quarantining
Actor Bert Belasco, who starred on the BET sitcom “Let’s Stay Together," died Sunday at the age of 38.
There has been no confirmed cause of death. Belasco died at a hotel outside Richmond, Virginia.
"On November 8, 2020, the Henrico County Police Division responded to a hotel located in the 1000 block of Virginia Center Parkway for a medical emergency. Upon arrival, first responders found an adult male, later identified as 38-year-old Bert Belasco III, of Woodland Hills, Calif., deceased," a spokesperson for Henrico County Police wrote in an email. "Hotel staff, who had received a call to check on Mr. Belasco’s welfare when family and friends could not reach him, called the Division’s Emergency Communications Center at 2:52 a.m. Mr. Belasco was pronounced on scene."
Belasco’s father, Bert Sr., told TMZ that his son was found dead after hotel staff went to check on him. The actor had been quarantining for two weeks leading up to a new movie. Belasco's girlfriend reportedly called the hotel when she had not heard from him.
Bert Sr. thinks his son died of an aneurysm.
There was an outpouring of support and best wishes after reports surfaced of Belasco's death.
Belasco was most known for playing Charles Whitmore on "Let’s Stay Together," but he was also made appearances on other popular shows like "NCIS," "Key and Peele" and "I’m Dying Up Here."
Belasco was a native of South Carolina and a 2005 graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, according to a profile by the Southern Illinoisan in 2011.
