Actor Joe Manganiello Lands ‘Details’ Cover
Actor Joe Manganiello has landed on the cover of the June/July style issue of Details Magazine. He is pictured in a wet white shirt. In an interview, the 38-year-old says he doesn't mind being considered "eye candy," according to E! Online.
Manganiello says that if he is being objectified for his good looks today, he has worked really hard for it, to have access to the dating pool. The Pennsylvania-born actor is engaged to 42-year-old "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara, and is starring in the upcoming sequel “Magic Mike XXL” alongside Channing Tatum.
Talking about his career-defining role in HBO’s hit series “True Blood,” he says he only intended to prove something to himself when he played a werewolf.
“No one pointed a gun at my head and said I had to look a certain way. I was hired for how I looked then, and I could have stayed that way, but why wouldn’t I want to come in the best shape of my life?” he said of getting in shape for the film. Manganiello pushed himself to the limit yet again when he was shooting “Magic Mike XXL”, which hits theaters July 1. He remembers that while filming one scene, he tore his biceps and had to carry on through four-and-a-half weeks of shooting with the pain. He added that once he was back in Los Angeles, he had surgery.
However, his “Magic Mike XXL” co-star Tatum has a different opinion of the actor. Tatum says that there is more to Manganiello than big muscles. Everybody sees him as the physical specimen he is, which can’t be missed. People assume that he has no other attributes or skills until he proves it to them, Tatum says adding that one of his favorite things about Manganiello is that he doesn’t feel the need to prove himself to anyone.
Manganiello however, feels that he has made his body, not because of the fact that he is getting married to Vergara. According to the actor, his life is pretty good. And he feels that if working out had anything to do with affording him the type of life he has, then he wants more of it.
