Adobe Systems is shielding its clients from malware attackers. The multinational computer software company is doing so by launching security patches for its famous products Flash Player, Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

Apparently, Adobe worked on addressing the vulnerabilities it found in the Flash Player, Adobe Reader and Acrobat late last year. The end-result of its labor is the first security patches for the trio this year. With the new updates, users will not have to worry about attackers targeting critical vulnerabilities to install malware on their computers, according to PC World.

The security patch for Adobe’s Flash Player fixes 13 vulnerabilities. Out of the 13, only one was found to enable remote code execution attacks. On the other hand, 29 Reader and Acrobat vulnerabilities are addressed by their respective patches. Just like the Flash Player, only one bug was discovered to allow code execution by attackers.

The patches arrived a month after Google and Microsoft expressed their intention of moving away from Flash. Microsoft even said that it would block Flash in its Edge browser for websites that support HTML5.

“In these cases, Flash will not even be loaded, improving performance, battery life, and security,” Microsoft security operation member Crispan Cowan explained, as per Threat Post. “For sites that still depend on Flash, users will have the opportunity to decide whether they want Flash to load and run, and this preference can be remembered for subsequent visits.”

Nonetheless, users are advised to update their Flash Player to version 24.0.0.194 and Acrobat and Reader to version 15.023.20053 for the “continuous” track and 15.006.30279 for the “classic” track. Users of the older versions of the Acrobat and Reader, on the other hand, are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.19.

Adobe’s products have been the easy target of hackers and attackers in the previous years. However, the company is already working to bolster the security features of its products by implementing patches that address discovered vulnerabilities.
