‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 4 Spoilers: Mack And Yo-Yo Have Sparks In Premiere; Will They Get Together?
The “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4 premiere had a lot going on. Between the introduction of Ghost Rider, Life-Model Decoys and whatever was in that weird box, the show still found a little bit of time for romance. Elena, also known as Yo-Yo, and Mack did some pretty heavy flirting, and that might continue on the ABC drama.
Henry Simmons, who plays Mack, wouldn’t reveal if a true romance was starting, but he noted that he saw the chemistry too. “Listen, I’ll tell you this. I think that any time we’re on screen together, I’ll go out on a limb and say there’s some spark,” Simmons admitted to E! News. “I love working with her.”
Fans saw those sparks last year when Mack started learning Spanish for the speedster and the two shared a few sweet moments. However, the scenes in Season 4, episode 1 were a lot more direct. Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) straight up told Mack that he should ask her out, and Mack had to make excuses about how agents and Inhuman assets aren’t allowed to have romantic relationships. Despite his words, it seemed like Mack and Elena would’ve been starting a romance if Coulson (Clark Gregg) hadn’t walked in at that moment.
Fans can thank Simmons for those scenes. “I told the producers — this was last year — ‘If you intend on bringing her back, please let me have as many scenes as possible with her.’ She’s amazing,” the actor explained.
Should Mack and Yo-Yo get together, viewers might see more than ever before. According to executive producer Jed Whedon, the new 10 p.m. timeslot will allow some more risqué material. “[ABC] haven’t really ever given us a note on violence,” Whedon explained at a Los Angeles screening and Q&A (via the Hollywood Reporter). “We’ve cut people into pieces and hacked them up and shot people point blank in the head. Never got any notes on that. So pushing the envelope for us will be in the sexual nature, as they say.”
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
