‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 5 Spoilers: 6 Things To Know

It’s time for fall TV shows to start, but unfortunately, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” isn’t on the schedule. The series was pushed to make room for “Marvel’s Inhumans,” but some clues about Season 5 might make the wait less frustrating.

When the ABC drama left off, the agents were in danger. Coulson (Clark Gregg) took them all to a diner, where they expected to be arrested by other agents after Life Model Decoys caused some serious havoc. However, it seems someone else took Coulson and his crew. The former director woke up on a spaceship.

While we don’t know where Coulson and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are, we already know a bit about the new episodes:

Clark Gregg Directs — The Coulson actor is stepping behind the camera. Clark Gregg revealed on Twitter that he’ll be directing an episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” in Season 5. This isn’t his first time in the role, though. He has directed two movies before, 2008’s “Choke” and 2014’s “Trust Me.”

Daisy Gets Beaten Up — Chloe Bennet loves to use Instagram Stories, and anyone following her has noticed that Daisy is covered in bruises and dirt. Wherever Daisy ended up, it’s clear that she isn’t safe and sound.

Hunter Returns — When we last saw Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), he and Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) had been caught infiltrating the Russian government in an attempt to save the Prime Minister’s life. However, when the mission went south, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the U.S. government couldn’t openly say that the agents were sent without anyone telling Russian authorities. Hunter and Bobbi were disavowed and never heard from again.

Unfortunately, the spinoff that was supposed to follow them never got picked up, so fans are left wondering what became of the feisty couple. While Palicki is busy on Fox’s “The Orville,” Blood will reprise his role as the British mercenary. It isn’t clear when he’ll appear or if his return is permanent.

New Faces — Jeff Ward has joined the Marvel drama for a big arc. According to Deadline, Marvel isn’t releasing character details, but viewers can expect him to stick around. He is set for a multi-episode arc.

Jordan Preston and Mark Rhino Smith will join the series in Season 5 as well. As usual, no details are available.

Return Date: “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” won’t wait until 2018 to return. ABC Chief Channing Dungey said (via Entertainment Weekly) it will replace “Inhumans” as soon as the eight-episode series wraps up in November. Remember, it’ll be on Fridays at 9 p.m. EDT instead of Tuesdays.

Don’t worry, the late start won’t change the episode count. There will still be 22 installments in Season 5.

Time Jump: Remember how Coulson didn’t seem all that shocked when he woke up on a space ship? That’s because some time has passed, but the executive producers aren’t saying how long. “We acknowledge there's a time jump,” Jeffrey Bell told IGN.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” Season 5 returns to ABC this fall.
