“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 announced the return of Nick Blood as mercenary Lance Hunter in the fall, and now ABC has revealed when and where fans can expect him. He won’t be on the space station with the team.

The drama is currently taking place both in the future and in space, but it seems fans will get to see what’s happening in the present on Earth soon enough. Hunter will be on Earth assisting Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) as he figures out what happened to his friends in the Dec. 22 episode.

“With the surprising help of Lance Hunter, nothing will stop Fitz from finding the lost team as his incredible journey is revealed,” the episode 5 synopsis reveals.

Hunter was last seen with Bobbi/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) in Season 3. They had been caught infiltrating the Russian government, and S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn’t say they sent them without starting a massive conflict. They had to disavow the agents. Bobbi and Hunter were never heard from again — until now.

With the team in space, it seems Fitz will turn to one of the only people who understand how much the team means to him. The mercenary and the scientist aren’t the best of friends, though they did bond when Fitz was recovering from a brain injury. However, it’s worth remembering that Hunter is the only person who was around last time Fitz was trying to get Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) back after a monolith transported her. Getting the whole team back will be even more difficult.

Hunter isn’t the only familiar face returning in this episode. In Season 3, Daisy (Chloe Bennet) had been unable to save an Inhuman man with visions of the future. He would give people premonitions of deaths that were about to happen whenever he touched them. After he died, Daisy started to give his wife Polly Hinton (Lola Glaudini) and daughter Robin (Lexy Kolker) money to help them start over in a new town. Both Polly and Robin will return in Season 5, episode 5, titled “Rewind.”

While Hunter and the Hintons are returning, it doesn’t sound like his Hunter’s love Mockingbird will be making a comeback. However, actress Adrianne Palicki told International Business Times in October that she is ready to make an appearance on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” again.

“I know Nick’s coming back,” Palicki told IBT. “So what are they gonna do without Bobbi is all I’m asking. I would absolutely make a cameo. For sure.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
