‘AGT’ Host Tyra Banks Regrets Sharing Son York’s Photo On Social Media
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 host Tyra Banks recently shared a photo of her 18-month-old son, York Banks-Asla, on social media.
But during her appearance on NBC’s “Late Night” with host Seth Meyers, Banks admitted that she regretted posting York’s photo the following day. The “America’s Next Top Model” creator and producer shared that she, her dad and York celebrated Father’s Day by the ocean, and York had a blast playing in the water. Banks noticed that there were paparazzis taking photos of her so she made sure to cover her son’s face.
“I’m trying to hide him with a blanket. I pull over the gas station after they get the shot, I text his dad and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to put this picture out before the paparazzi. I don’t want them to make money off our child and have the first picture.’ So I posted the damn picture. The next day, there ain’t no paparazzi pictures, ‘cause mama knew how to hide that camera. She’s a supermodel for a reason! And so now his picture is out there and I didn’t need it to be!” she said.
At this point, Meyers showed off York’s picture and noted that even at his young age, he already knows how to “smize.” The term was coined by Banks herself during her longterm stint in “America’s Next Top Model,” and it means smiling with your eyes.
Banks couldn’t help but note that York is such a natural in front of the camera. After all, his mom is a supermodel and his dad is fashion photographer Erik Asla. “He has that natural thing; I had it when I was young, too. But I do not want him to model. Lord! But he has that thing. Look at him! He’s like, ‘Hello, I’m smizing!’” she said.
Meanwhile, Banks will head to the upcoming live shows of “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 starting Aug. 15. She will also return for the 24th cycle of “America’s Next Top Model” after taking a break in cycle 23.
In May, Banks surprised aspiring contestants of the VH1 reality TV competition with big news that the age limit of 27 has been removed.
