Air Scare: Queen Consort Camilla's Plane Hit By Bird, Suffers Dent
Queen Consort Camilla of Britain had a somewhat "jerky" end to her relaxing spa trip to Bengaluru city in India last week. On the way back, her plane apparently suffered a collision with a bird that caused the British Airways aircraft to suffer damage to its nose.
Amid the political chaos in Britain, with the country getting its third prime minister in just two months, Camilla had sought a break to rejuvenate herself. She had flown off to Soukhya, a wellness center close to Whitefield, Bengaluru, for a 10-day spa and therapy trip. Camilla's stay was reportedly supervised by Soukhya chairman Dr. Issac Mathai, MSN reported.
The trip went off smoothly, but the minor accident occurred just as the Boeing 77 was about to land at Heathrow Airport, Vanity Fair reported.
The picture was posted by FL360aero, an aviation news site, on Twitter and it showed the Boeing 777 with a dented nose. In a statement, British Airways said: "The aircraft landed safely, and customers disembarked as normal." However, Camilla reportedly has a fear of flying, which she had admitted earlier in public.
According to a report in The Times Of India, the Queen Consort arrived in Bengaluru on Oct. 20, accompanied by friends and her security detail. Soukhya is a 30-acre organic farm which is a holistic spa and Ayurvedic treatment center located in rural Bengaluru, where guests mainly come down for homeopathic and naturopathic treatments, as well as Panchkarma therapy and yoga sessions.
The Times got in touch with Dr. Mathai, who refused to divulge any details about her time spent there, but said that "it certainly looked like this trip was very important to her." Sources at the airport, according to the outlet, said that one of the six friends who accompanied Camila was Catherine Goodman, who is the founder of the Royal Drawing School in London.
This is not her first visit there, according to the Daily Mail. According to the outlet, she is a very frequent visitor to the place and had visited Soukhya earlier in 2019 with her husband, then-prince Charles on his 71st birthday. Camilla has been in the limelight more than ever after the demise of Queen Elizabeth II after which her husband became King and she became the Queen Consort.
